Why Me?

I can hear the execs at Advocate Entertainment/iShine Records now...

"Okay guys...Let's see...Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus, The Cheetah Girls, and the cast of High School Musical have sold millions of records for Disney. Why don't we hold national auditions and find a Christian girl whose voice most closely resembles Miley's? What's that? Miley Cyrus is a Christian girl? She couldn't be...she's on Disney. Anyways...Then we can add on two other girls so it's got that cool Cheetah Girls vibe. We can call them the Rubies...no wait...the Rubyz! Adding a "z" is always cooler and more appealing to tweens. Let's hire the best writers we can find to exactly copy the formulaic sound from the Disney albums and we'll be in business."

I always check new releases on iTunes and when I came across the Rubyz, I had two thoughts. First, who buys these oh-so corny Christian Disney rip-off CDs? Second, oh wait...I'll probably have to buy it to play in the background at church for the Junior Highers because it actually perfectly fits my welcome music criteria of "new" and "upbeat". Of course the 8th grade guys are going to hate me.

Why me?

David, your review is filled with assumptions based on ZERO facts. Is that the same method that you use to lead your Jr. High kids? Do just assume that you have it all figured out, or do you go ahead and trash people's lives and the work they do for Christ (and Christ ALONE) based purely on what you make up the iron-clad truth to be in your mind. I would assume that you would be the one to encourage your kids to gather all of the information before they start throwing stones at other kids, right? I've checked around the Advocate/iShine camp and no one seems to have had any contact with you about this. That's too bad because you've chosen to talk down openly about a ministry opportunity and you have affected negatively the feelings of three girls of which two would be in your group today in Dallas if they attended your church. Would you tell two kids in your youth group that "you suck!" if they did their very best and what they felt God calling them to do? I would certainly hope not. You should truly consider the platform you speak from before choosing to operate under the moniker of Jesus's love. Shame on your for acting so irresponsibly.
